Lapérouse opens a café at the Musée national de la Marine
In 2019, as the prestigious Lapérouse restaurant reopened its doors, its new owner Benjamin Patou, founder of the Moma Group, announced new addresses to come for the mythical establishment inaugurated in 1766.
It is in a freshly renovated Marine Museum that a new Café Lapérouse is installed, as well as a grocery store-cellar, an ice cream parlour and a chocolate maker. Inspired by the travels of the eponymous explorer, whose portrait is on display in the Musée de la Marine, the sublime sets, signed by Cordelia de Castellane, mix eighteenth-century styles and Art Deco influences with shimmering prints, precious materials and fabrics, and custom-made furniture. The Café Lapérouse also has two terraces: one with a view of the Place de la Concorde (the only one in Paris), the other overlooking the courtyard. On the menu, foie gras, pâté en croûte and smoked salmon rub shoulders with croque-monsieur (vegetarian, truffle or salmon version) and boiled eggs (dressed in caviar or with bottarga and truffles). Fresh salads, smash burgers, lobster rolls and crab macaroni and cheese complete the offer. Not to mention the cellar of more than 1,000 references and generous desserts.
