A grandiose show at the Louvre for Louis Vuitton spring-summer 2022
On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, it was in the Richelieu passage of the Louvre and under a ceiling of magnificent crystal chandeliers that Nicolas Ghesquière presented his spring-summer 2022 collection. Once again, the French artistic director takes us on a grandiose journey through time with a show that looks like a masquerade ball that fused nineteenth-century inspirations and futuristic silhouettes. Thus, dresses with embroidered breastplates are accompanied by turns worthy of French aristocrats and are associated with space age wedge open boots.Straight jeans are worn with negligees of lace and liquid sequins and leather pants with strict capes. The officer’s jacket is also present, declined in a radical volume dear to the designer. Sunglasses are maximalist like ball masks and headdresses are jeweled when they are entirely embroidered with pearls. Nothing could have taken away the magic of this parade, not even the Extinction Rebellion activists who took to the catwalk.
